June 14, 15 &16: Richard Powers Cross Step Waltz and More Workshop

BDCF is excited to host Dance historian and innovator Richard Powers.

Richard has been teaching contemporary and historic social dance for over 35 years. He leads workshops around the world and is currently a full-time instructor at Stanford University’s Dance Division. Richard’s emphasis is on flexible attentive partnering, creativity, developing one’s personal style, and the ability to adapt to the dancing styles of various partners. Richard Powers will DJ and teach quick lessons throughout the night

8:00-9:00 pm~ 1950’s Rock & Roll Cha Cha lesson

Saturday, June 15th

9:00-9:30 am~ Registration and Warm-up

9:30-10:45 am~ Cross Step Waltz (No experience necessary)

11:00-12:15 pm~ Int/Ad CSW Grapevine Variations (Waltz experience necessary)

12:15pm Lunch provided at hall (Richard will read from his new book “Waltzing”)

1:30-2:45 pm~ 1920’s & 1930’s Blues Dance (No experience necessary)

3:00-4:15 pm~ On-the-Fly Waltz Variations (Waltz experience necessary)

Sunday, June 16th

9:00-9:30 am~ Registration and Warm-up

9:30-10:45 am~ CSW Variations from Waltz Lab (Waltz experience necessary)

11:00-12:15 pm~ Underarm Turns from Rotary Waltz (Waltz experience necessary)

12:15pm Lunch at the Hall (bring your own)

1:30-2:45 pm~ Viennese Waltz Variations (Experience necessary)

3:00-4:45 pm~ Swing Rueda (Some experience necessary)

No partner necessary. Please bring clean, non-marking shoes.
