I was born in Colorado and was lucky enough to have been born to a military family, so I spent a good deal of my youth traveling. I was tomboy growing up, so between moving regularly and my natural inclination to catch bugs and play in the mud, dancing wasn’t anywhere on my radar. In college I decided to break out of my comfort zone and take some jazz and modern dance classes. While I enjoyed them, it was until taking my first dance class under our very own Rulon Jenson about 10 years ago that I found not only a style of dance that I liked but a style of dance that I couldn’t live without. This passion led me to engage in hours upon hours upon hours of training, and spend thousands of dollars in pursuit of learning, but I cannot think of a single other thing I’d rather have spent my time and money on (though the student loan people might have a different take on that!!!) I have choreographed some couples routines for weddings and am currently trying my hand at teaching a group choreography but my passion is social dancing and sharing my joy of it with as many people as I can.
My classes focus on the art of leading and following but I try to ensure that they are fun and stress-free. I don’t believe in the notion of “two left feet”. In fact, I think that if a man can dance salsa with one leg, and a dog can dance merengue (see below), then anyone can dance. So what are you waiting for?
