Eamon Stack

Born and raised in Fairbanks, I have been dancing from an early age when my mother “dragged” me to Contra Dance. In truth she only dragged me to the first one, I went willingly from then on. In high school I convinced my fellow classmates to try dancing and the West Valley swim team soon comprised 20-30% of regular contra dancers. I took my first Swing class in 2006 and while I was not entirely convinced, I definitely liked the music. After two years at UAF I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in fall of 2007 for a fresh start and a new experience. Upon my arrival I was regularly escorted by my girlfriend at the time to the free swing lessons taught twice weekly. I soon came to realize that I could eventually figure the contraption that is Swing.
In the spring of 2009 I had the unique opportunity to attend a workshop in Phoenix featuring instruction by not only Max Pitruzella and Annie Trudeau (1st place in the International Lindy Hop Competition [ILHC] Showcase Category ’09 and ’10) but Frankie Manning, the father of swing as we know it. It changed my view on dance and what I was capable of. I soon started teaching around Flagstaff with Audrey. Most recently, I went to a workshop taught by Carla Heiney (7-time US Open Swing Dance Champion).
I am truly excited to come home and share what I have learned. While Lindy Hop is my mainstay, I am also quite fond of Charleston, Balboa and East Coast.

I teach on two principal rules: First, this is Swing, you can’t do it wrong. “Mistakes” are just new moves. Second, if you’re not having fun, you’re doing it “wrong”.

See you on the dance floor!
